Thunder Beast Ultra Gen2 and Dominus Suppressors -The Firearm Blog

TBAC has issued a safety recall for some of their suppressors manufactured in 2020.

Any firearms-related recall is always unfortunate. Companies typically invest a significant amount of time, effort, and resources into their products’ research and development. They want to do all they can to ensure that by the time their product heads out the door into the waiting hands of distributors, retailers, and customers, it’s been well-made and thoroughly tested. Thunder Beast Arms Corporation, or TBAC for short, is no different. They’ve been putting plenty of sweat equity and passion into their suppressors for years, and normally have solid results. Unfortunately, occasionally things can and do go wrong for all of us, and one of those snafus has hit TBAC. If you have one of their Dominus or Ultra Gen2 cans that was manufactured last year, please be sure to read the following recall announcement that was just released, and check your silencer’s serial number.

TBAC ULTRA GEN2 / DOMINUS LIMITED RECALL

Posted By: Zak Smith on April 7, 2021

We have discovered a welding fault present in a small fraction of the suppressors in some batches of Dominus and Ultra Gen2 suppressors that were manufactured in 2020.

We are recalling, for evaluation and, if necessary, repair, some batches of Ultra Gen2 and Dominus suppressors.

If a suppressor with the fault present is fired, one of the last couple welds may fail, causing it to lose, usually, the endcap and the last baffle. If this happens, the suppressor is still easily repairable. Our goal is to intercept and test all suppressors in affected batches, and repair those where the fault is present.

We have a fast, non-destructive method to test suppressors for the presence of this fault. All suppressors that fail this test will be repaired or replaced depending on the “Form” status.

If you have a suppressor affected by this recall, please do not fire it until it’s been evaluated.

If you have one of the following serial numbers, please proceed to https://thunderbeastarms.com/g2recall and plug in your specific
serial number to determine if your suppressor needs evaluation.

ULTRA GEN2 with serial number between C40001 – C42000

DOMINUS-SR, CB, and K-SR with serial number between C30001 – C42000
also C10001-C10013; C10075-C10079; C20615

Once an affected suppressor has been fixed, you'll be able to tell by the visible seam shown here, between the engraved lettering and the fluting. This seam won't be seen on unrepaired cans.

Do you have one of the affected cans? If so, have you experienced any issues with it? Please be sure to heed the safety warnings above; nobody wants to deal with a catastrophic failure with equipment like this. Even if you don’t personally own one of the TBAC cans in question, please be sure to check with your friends and/or family members who may. Better safe than sorry! No doubt TBAC will do what it takes to correct this issue and move forward ASAP. See you at the range.
