Reader Comments of the Week
“Well written article, I agree ANY firearm is better than no firearm. I have similar experiences as the author. Confronted dirtbags are hard to put down and avoidance at all costs should be your first Choice but can be unavoidable. My law enforcement career was ended by such a physical altercation in the line of duty. A drugged up person doesn’t think or feel like you do and keeps going with injuries that will put others down. Ask yourself now – If you have no other choice but to shoot a burglar could you? Do you have the skills to do so? The most important thing in this article is PRACTICE shot placement shot alignment, sight picture. Know your firearm. PRACTICE like you want to in a fight. Most people miss because they don’t practice and you fall back to your training in a fight.”
– SCOTT, in response to The Burglar Gun: Best Firearms for Dealing with Intruders
“The grip that I was first taught in the Navy in the ‘60s is similar to the “tea cup” grip except that the grip is cupped in the support hand with the fingers and thumb vertical and the bottom if the grip in the palm of the support hand.”
– JOHN, in response to Best Pistol Grip Techniques for Self-Defense
“I appreciate the technical effort to share with those of use that flat out have no clue – speaking for myself anyway. I’m hoping you have either already written or plan on writing the same for handgun loading. As someone who is clueless and not having enough money to even budget, I do know the “value” of obtaining the necessary equipment and proper techniques – including safety. Worse, all you need to do is go to Congress’s Legislation page to find out how dire things truly are or can be if Democrats get into office. This is not a political statement – but fact. There have been so many out right bans or further harsh restriction Bills proposed that I couldn’t list them if I wanted to. They are trying to attack the Second Amendment any way possible. This time, going after ammo by proposing we obtain a license to purchase! They are going after the AR-15 by name, including every single semi-automatic firearm with the same characteristics BY NAME! I realize this is a tangent from “loading” – but I’m just backing up the author when he mentions the difficulty in obtaining ammo off the shelf – and the need to look into the skills necessary to reload. As usual, they’re going after the honest law abiding citizen and not doing anything to deter the criminal. Thanks for your help.”
– MIKE, in response to Loading for Every Rifle
